2013-02-22 Top 10 World Music CDs, February 2013 edition

Red Baraat - Shruggy JiLots of new names on the chart this month — if my math is right, there are just three holdovers from January, including the bhangra stylings of #1 Red Baraat. More Indian flavors follow with the new release from raga slide-guitar virtuoso Debashish Bhattacharya. Also included: Oratnitza updates Bulgarian folk, Vusi Mahlasela sings to the people, Leni Stern continues her affair with West Africa, Flavia Coehlo shows new directions in Brazilian sound, Mr. Haris Pilton does some Gypsy dance tunes, Mop Mop finds a mystical isle of world-jazz-funk, Camile does live vocal gymnastics, and Koby Israelite shows that blues know no borders.

I love to hear from listeners when I’m on the air, and when I’m not, I’d love to hear from you via the website or Facebook page, where you can also get your free Daily Spin:  http://facebook.com/spintheglobe
