Today is the birthday of King Sunny Ade and Oliver Mtukudzi. Both are known for talents beyond their guitar playing, but we’ll use the occasion for a roundup of guitarists from around Africa, from Tinariwen and other desert rockers in the north to Malian guitarist Fatoumata Diawara to South Africa’s Philip Tabane.
