2015-09-18 Global Swing Tunes + Lache Cercel interview

Lache CercelSlight change of plans this week. No Top 10 countdown, because our crack team of statisticians were busy making clocks in solidarity with #IStandWithAhmed. So instead, swing tunes from around the world. Plus… born in Romania and now calling Canada home, Lache Cercel and his Roma Swing Ensemble combine the flare and passion of traditional Eastern European melodies with swinging jazz harmonies. Learn about their music in advance of their appearance at DjangoFest NW in a live interview with Cercel.

2011-11-18 Gypsy Music + Sean Gaskell (kora) live!

The scheduled interview with Lache Cercel was derailed by a family emergency that forced Lache to cancel his scheduled Olympia show and fly back to Romania, but I’m hoping we’ll get to that at a later date. But we did get an hour of great Romani music in, and part 2 of our Double Live show did happen, with Sean Gaskell and his kora performing four songs for us in the second hour of the show.
